My Opening and Reason

To all,

Welcome to my blog. Let me first tell you about me and the reasons behind my fustration. I am a 27 year old female with a bachelors degree in Communications Studies and a masters degree in Human Resources Managment. I have been working for the past 5 years diligently to improve my quality of life, by saving, investing, purchasing a house, paying my bills on time, pretty much being responsible. However in 2008, that all came to a hault when I was laid off. As you know in 2008, the economy plumitted and many lost their jobs and I was one of them. After looking for a job for about a month, I obtain a contract position that ended in Feb of 09. I thought that it would be easier to find a job however it wasnt until June 09 that I found a position that I THOUGHT had stability. Then about a week ago, I found out that I would be RIFed again. I think that I am in better spirits then I was the first lay off however, I am asking myself what am I doing wrong, how do I pick these companies. This wasnt suppose to happen to me, I am outgoing, personable, educated, wise beyond me years( my current boss keeps telling me this), so then why in the world is this happening to me. People around me keep telling me this is a good lesson for someone your age, be thankful you dont have a family. WHAT! I have bills, my credit it being affected!

Ok, I vented! The reason for this blog is to connect with others who are affected and going through the same things or for those who want to give some encouraging words or information about networking, job positions, career branding.

  1. Girl you know I feel your pain! There is nothing like waking up one day to realize the world as you know it is different; everything is so unstable and it seems like your hard earned degree means nothing.

But we will come out of it on top...There is only way to go from the bottom, and that is UP!! :)

  2. That is very true. I know that this is only preparing us for the future and for us to understand that we always have to remain on the top of our game. However, colleges need to make their students understand that when you get the degree dont expect to get a job right away. Also that you have to be creative when it comes to marketing your skills and talents.
