What is your plan B?

It is important to have a plan b. Things dont always work out like you plan. Just because you have a degree doesnt mean that you will get a job right away or even in that field. So think about it, WHAT IS YOUR PLAN B?

A Wonderful Day!!!!

Hey Everyone,

I had a wonderful day today. I went to a refuel, reinvent yourself networking breakfast. It was a great opportunity to met women who are also in the transitional stage, or in a  re-inventing stage. I was feed with knowledge and personal experience from the women. I recieved some wonderful advice for my career and personal development. I do believe that theses types of meeting especially the ones in an intimate setting is a wonderful experience. These types of social events are very important, one it allows you to keep abreast on current events and job posting, and second it allows you build a network because you never know who they might now. I am now seeing that I have a lot of wonderful opportunities ahead of me and I am excited.

RE-BRANDING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I was listening to someone talk about rebranding of themseleves. I kindly interrupted the conversation so I could listen and figure out what was this word meant and how can I utilize this too. Well in a nutshell re-branding yourself means reinventing to be marketable and overcome the challenges in todays economy. Here are some of the things one can do to rebrand themseleves.
1. Identify Skills employers are seeking.
2. Name at least three high-growth industries in your area.
3. Repackage your skills to enhance and obtain a job in a high growth industry.

My Opening and Reason

To all,

Welcome to my blog. Let me first tell you about me and the reasons behind my fustration. I am a 27 year old female with a bachelors degree in Communications Studies and a masters degree in Human Resources Managment. I have been working for the past 5 years diligently to improve my quality of life, by saving, investing, purchasing a house, paying my bills on time, pretty much being responsible. However in 2008, that all came to a hault when I was laid off. As you know in 2008, the economy plumitted and many lost their jobs and I was one of them. After looking for a job for about a month, I obtain a contract position that ended in Feb of 09. I thought that it would be easier to find a job however it wasnt until June 09 that I found a position that I THOUGHT had stability. Then about a week ago, I found out that I would be RIFed again. I think that I am in better spirits then I was the first lay off however, I am asking myself what am I doing wrong, how do I pick these companies. This wasnt suppose to happen to me, I am outgoing, personable, educated, wise beyond me years( my current boss keeps telling me this), so then why in the world is this happening to me. People around me keep telling me this is a good lesson for someone your age, be thankful you dont have a family. WHAT! I have bills, my credit it being affected!

Ok, I vented! The reason for this blog is to connect with others who are affected and going through the same things or for those who want to give some encouraging words or information about networking, job positions, career branding.
